Fish are here :-)

Well, I finally got fish in the aquarium today. I started with 6: one South American cichlid, a blood parrot. It’s bright orange and just beautiful! I also got 4 African cichlids, one is a peacock of some sort I know, but don’t know about the others. The last one is a rubber nose pleco. I’ll have to post pics when they get through darting through the tank non-stop checking everything out.

No stitching today, but I did get all the plants for the backyard beds as well as the pine straw. We put some in the ground this afternoon before I had to get ready for work, and hopefully the rest will get done while I’m sleeping on Saturday!

Oh my aching back!

For those of you that haven’t used WordPress, it’s pretty cool! You can have multiple pages, and you can find mine at the top right of the page. I’m still constructing it, but check out my other pages!

The front yard looks great but I overdid it…as usual. I just don’t know when enough is enough! I have only one or two more things to do in the front. I dug up some dead and half-dead azalea bushes and I need to figure out what I want to replace them with. I also need to put something in the whiskey barrel in the side yard and a new plant in the pot that is in the same bed.

I went to our fourth Thursday stitching group tonight, Ecclesiastes. We named it that after Ecclesiastes 8:15, which says, “So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for people under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun.” So we get together and eat, stitch, and be merry! We are doing two projects, about half of us are doing the “Christmas Heritage” sampler from Victoria Sampler. The other half are doing “Sampler of Stitches” by The Drawn Thread. I am working on the Christmas Heritage piece in the traditional red and green colorway. I’m the only one doing it in that color, everyone else is doing it in the victorian colors. There’s no need in putting a picture up yet, as I am still pulling my hair out working on that tree at the top! I have done many a complicated piece, but that tree is driving me nuts. Literally, I have about six hours or more of stitching time in and I’m about 2/3 of the way down the tree. I think the rest of it will go quickly if I survive the tree!

I think I’m going to go work on “Augusta” for a little while. I need to stay up late tonight as I go back to work tomorrow night and need to get back in the night shift mode.

Too much to do to stitch

I’ve had just too much going on lately to get in any stitching time. In fact, I haven’t put thread to fabric since Sunday. I worked two weeks straight with no days off, so when I finally got a day off, I had lots to catch up on around the house. I did manage to finish putting up my aquarium, just waiting for it to run for a few days before adding some fish. I have been catching up on yardwork and I’m doing the flowerbeds in the front yard today. Yesterday I had a root canal at the dentist, then mowed grass before going to work. It wasn’t a real fun night, but not too bad.

I go back to regular work tomorrow, and the lieutenant is off all four days we work and my fellow sergeant is leaving the department, so he won’t be there either. So, I doubt I’ll get to do any stitching at work since I’ll have to be the sergeant and lieutenant all week.

I am stitching mostly on “Pompeji” by Chatelaine right now and I must say I am loving it! It’s a big project, but it is stitching up so quickly! I love the colors so far and really enjoying working on it.

Enjoying Word Press

I have been working with this blog for a few days and I’m liking it. I really like the ability to have multiple pages, and so far I’ve set up my aquarium page and posted a couple of stitching WIP’s. I think I will be moving to this blog site permanently before much longer!

Checking out WordPress

I am working on this blog to see how I like WordPress as opposed to Blogger. There appears to be a lot more fun stuff you can do here and it makes the blog look more like a “normal” website. Of course, I still have my website, I’m just too lazy to build it up! We shall see which blog service I decide to stick with. I also Yuku, but I haven’t spent any time developing that site.
